Hi, I’m Yuliya Romanskaya.
I have always been a mover. My Pilates journey started many moons ago when I was a dance student at California Institute of the Arts. While working as a professional dancer, I got certified at the Kane School/Kinected in NYC where I began my calling to understand how the body works.
During my 15 year dance career, I grappled with painful conditions from sciatica to tendonitis. Through trying various therapeutic techniques to heal, I discovered that fitness often came at the expense of mindful moving. I wanted and needed both. This is the inspiration behind SkayaBodies - an integrated movement method that strengthens the body from a safe, anatomically-informed perspective.
SkayaBodies was founded on the idea that each body has its own unique history and deserves a training experience that is highly personal and customized. For the past 11 years, I’ve taught Pilates to hundreds of people through group and one-on-one sessions between Los Angeles and New York and across the globe. Informed by my deep knowledge of biomechanics and physical therapy, my specialty is developing programming that is equally restorative and athletic. From knee replacements to cancer to pregnancy, through my clients, I have witnessed how specialized care and attention transforms the body and the mindset around it.
I will always prioritize listening to you by fostering a space that is inclusive, encouraging and meets you where you are. Each session leaves your body feeling challenged, alive and in touch with what you are capable of - in the studio and beyond.
